Could you give Lucy a loving home?
Lucy has made wonderful progress in her foster home and is now ready for a permanent family who can continue to nurture her with love, patience and care.
Lucy has some complex medical needs and benefits from the support of a multidisciplinary team to help her thrive, including paediatric services, physiotherapy and portage.
Lucy has spina bifida with myelomeningocele, a condition where the spine and spinal canal do not close completely during development before birth. Lucy had an operation shortly after birth to close this gap. She also has a ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt, which helps to relieve pressure on the brain caused by a build-up of fluid. Lucy will have this shunt long term and it is monitored regularly. In addition, Lucy has bilateral talipes affecting both feet and uses a urinary catheter.
Lucy is delayed in meeting some of her developmental milestones due to her condition, particularly with her gross motor skills. She is not yet sitting unsupported but has mastered rolling and is working towards crawling. Lucy loves to smile and laugh and is developing her communication through babbling and clapping.
Lucy is an adorable baby who is thriving with the love and care she currently receives. She now needs the right adopters—a forever family who can embrace her, meet her medical and developmental needs, and support her to grow, flourish and reach her full potential.
The longer-term outlook for Lucy is not yet fully known as she is still very young, but she will need ongoing support from health professionals. Lucy needs a loving and committed family who can support her needs and help her continue to thrive.
